Madi Anderson – Teacher

Hi! My name is Madi, and I have been in love with education since I could count. I knew I wanted to be a teacher from the first moment I saw the spark of understanding in someone’s eyes. I’ve been working with children since 2013, learning and teaching along the way.

I grew up in Claremont, CA, where I taught with SLICE of Summer, a summer school enrichment program. Working with SLICE, I designed all of the curriculum for my classes, ranging from a content-focused class that explored math and literacy through the lens of fantasy, to a hands-on history of desserts class. I moved up to Portland to attend Lewis and Clark college, where I received my undergraduate degree in Classical Civilizations and my masters in teaching in Elementary Education, and absolutely fell in love with the amazing environment and the Pacific Northwest. After I earned my teaching credentials, I worked as a substitute teacher, where I learned how to set clear and consistent expectations with students while still maintaining a positive and fun classroom environment and creating creative and engaging instruction. When I began to work for Trackers, I learned how to connect with the land in new and exciting ways, and got to share my love for the outdoors with my students! My passion really lies in how to truly engage my students and invest them in learning in creative ways.

I’m so excited to bring my love for learning to your students!
